Mounds Mall is very conveniently located in Anderson, in central Indiana, a few miles away from I-69, on Scatterfield Road. The mall was built in 1964 but had several expansions added since then. This is Indiana’s first enclosed mall. The initial surface of mere 200,000 square feet has increased considerably in the past years.
There are approximately 50 shops and services harbored in this mall, as well as 8 restaurants and eateries, with Garfield’s and Texas Roadhouse being two of the most popular. The current anchors are Sears and Elder-Beerman, but other major stores include Waldenbooks, Old Navy and GMC. These are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Those who want to take a break from shopping can watch a movie in a very clean 10-screen movie theatre.
Parking is free and ample, but there are no valet parking services mentioned, nor covered parking lots. It seems that the mall has lost its popularity with time due to the area in which is located, an area whose development has stagnated in the past decade.
